Local politics in a show of Inaction imho.
Last Wednesday Evening the Broken Hill City Council held its monthly Meeting behind closed doors where a Councilor offered up a Proposal to create an Isolation Zone in the Far Western N.S.W. Region, centred on Broken Hill and extending to Wilcannia, Menindee and possibly Pooncarrie on the Darling River, north from Broken Hill to possibly encompass Tibooburra and south-west to the outskirts of Cockburn on the S.A.-N.S.W. border.
Broken Hill Mayor Turley, so it appears, invoked yet another 'Mayoral Minute' and VETOED the proposal, out of hand imho.
Since Broken Hill and the region around it ARE already somewhat isolated by distance, this proposal IS, imho, a very Good and Practical idea since it included ONLY permitting Essential Services and Transportation of Vital and Essential Services and Goods to pass through the region for the extent of the Covid 19 Pandemic.
It WOULD offer up a measure of protection for the people of this region by 'jumping in first' before the virus gets here and wreaks havoc on an already isolated population.
FFS Mayor Turley does NOT the safety of the People come BEFORE the 'possible soirees' you and your fellow Council Members are still hoping to enjoy?
