Question

Hello all,

I enjoy thoughtful conversation, but I also like to laugh—mostly at myself.

That said, I talk a lot when I’m nervous and clam up when I feel intimidated. You’ll find me in jeans and sandals most of the time, working in the yard, playing my guitar and singing, reading on the patio, attending my grandson's soccer games, or chatting it up with neighbors. I do a lot of writing and especially like writing outdoors when the weather is nice.

I’m committed to scientifically supported reality and well-argued philosophical truths.I admire people who are with themselves and authentic with others. I try to be respectfully at all times, though it isn't always easy.

I would describe myself politically as a social liberal (live and let live) and a fiscal conservative (down with debt).

I love my life and home. I live in a tiny California mountain community (3400 ft) in a small knotty pine cabin built in 1922 with a mountain in my back yard and a creek in front.

I'm a retired editor with an M.A. in Philosophy (Law, Politics, and Ethics) I still love to write, so my laptop and I remain joined at the hip.

Being joined at the hip makes it rather difficult, I imagine. I mean, all that twisting to type and all.

You live in the sort of environment I was raised in -- small farm on the western slopes of the Cascades in Oregon. Wonderful place to grow during childhood and a marvelous place in which the spend the twilight years. A little far south for my liking, but still nice.

Hello April. I was going to suggest that you dump the laptop and embrace the phone but I see that you have what looks like an Apple phone in your hand. It should be able to let you do all the writing and editing that you could wish for. If not dump it and get an Android. Either way, unlike the computer they will fit in your top pocket. I do recommend a lanyard to prevent them falling into creeks, the sea when talking to dolphins or simply falling down the loo when you bend over to flush it!
