And here is how they do it for all those living in the "land of the free".
This is a letter that I received today from an American organisation called Fight for the Future.
As there is no link given I have simply copied & pasted the content for you to read & deal with as you think fit - that is if the post is not sequestered by administration.
The so Called US Patriot Act
"Congress is about to reauthorize the law that allows the government to spy on Americans without a warrant. If we don’t act now, they’ll renew it by the end of the year.
Tell your member of Congress: shut down Section 215 of the PATRIOT Act.
TAKE ACTION
Section 215 is the part that enables the government to monitor your phone calls, location data, medical records, and financial transactions—all without needing a warrant or any suspicion of wrongdoing. And right now Congress is debating on whether or not to reauthorize it.
The government wants the power to invade our personal lives to manipulate and control us. With warrantless surveillance enabled by law, anyone can be swept up and persecuted because of religion, political beliefs, where they’re from, or who their friends are.
This is urgent. Congress will decide in less than two months whether or not to renew Section 215, and politicians—including Trump and top Democrats—are calling for permanent, indefinite authority to spy on Americans.
That’s why you need to speak up too: tell your member of Congress to vote against the permanent authorization of spying through Section 215.
Thanks for taking action,
Evan at Fight for the Future"
You think they wouldn't spy anyway? They're already doing it and have been doing it for years.
Peeping tom laws have been in existence for hundreds of years. Human nature.
@FrayedBear What does that have to do with the government or The Patriot Act? I'm sure they were spying on people before The Patriot Act too. They don't care about law.
@Piece2YourPuzzle Peeping Toms
It should never of been enacted in the first place. I was disappointed in Oboma that he did not abolish this, as he said he would when he was running.
Passed 2001 renewed weakened a little bit 2011
@GreenAtheist I knew it was bush era that inacted it, but Oboma said he would repeal it, never happened. But we are fueling ourselves if we think that as soon as the technology was there for them to do so, that they wouldn't.
@Mermaidfantasy I warned people ObushaObombney was a Wall Street Whore and led the Kucinich 2008 Strength Through Peace S Carolina CAMPAIGN....Obama staff bribed me to jump ship but I told them to go fuck themselves 2007 Blind Tiger Bistro Broad Street "we separate church&state (streets)"
The UK allowed its intelligence agencies to spy on their own citizens, and gather data, for years before making it legal. Few people have complained that their privacy, and freedoms, have been infringed and curtailed.
We have a number of laws that makes thought crime a criminal offence and people are being imprisoned not only for what they have done, but what it is thought that they may do.
There are few freedoms in the free world nowadays.
Gangsters in London called the Ministry of Justice or some such obscene lie have kidnapped ASSANGE for the crime of telling the truth about government crimes and USA has Chelsea Manning kidnapped for refusing to lie about Assange
@GreenAtheist You know, Chelsea was tried, and received sex change therapy for her punishment. WAIT . . . .WHAT?
@SiouxcitySue Chelsea has been in jail as long as Assange for refusing to sign accusations against Julian to send over to London as proof for extradition to USA....has nothing to do with her years in military custody as PFC MANNING
@SiouxcitySue She isn't punished she is being prevented from further embarrassing the US government.
I suggest the sex change operation was in order to stigmattize her deviancy particularly amongst the god bothering and those still indoctrinated with xtian and muslim pronouncements.
Add to that how the Federal Defense Authorization Act has added to that : [en.wikipedia.org]
I'm utterly unsure that I understand how this related to the US Government spying on its citizens.
@FrayedBear
If you look under the heading for notable FDAA, you will see the following :
National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012, Pub.L. 112–81. This NDAA contains several controversial sections (see article), the chief being §§ 1021-1022, which affirm provisions authorizing the indefinite military detention of civilians, including U.S. citizens, without habeas corpus or due process, contained in the Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF), Pub.L. 107–40.[8]
I suspect that this covers all citizens, irrespective of their nationality ; just look at the prisoners in Guantanomo Bay, some of whom were subjected to rendition with the collusion of their own governments.
A UK citizen successfully sued the British government for colluding with the USA to have him, in effect kidnapped and flown there, despite the fact that he was innocent of any charge that may have justified that.
Moreover, he was tortured, even though this is a violation fundamental human rights, the Geneva convention, etc.
@Magister Many thanks, I missed that point and agree with you that it is disgusting. On the kidnapped Brit tortured in Guantanamo don't you mean that he was successful "due to" not "despite" the fact that he was innocent?
Sadly the USA has been the bully of the world for several hundred years and is merely extending its love of mammon, its malpractice and hypocrisy to its own citizens.
@Magister or should I call its citizens "slaves" or "chattels".
Land of the free my anus!
@FrayedBear No, I mean despite, because innocence is incidental when it comes to accusations, especially those of terrorism. It's the modern version of being called a witch, and witch hunts never ever bothered with minor things like the truth.
Citizens of all countries are both slaves and chattels of their respective states. We are mere commodities that serve one purpose only, and that is to make money for others. Over the centuries, our right to build our own homes and forage for food was taken away by those in society who saw themselves as superior, and they see it as their right by virtue of their position of power, to take land, the product of others' hard work, and restricting their liberties,
As some are born into poverty, others are born into undeserved wealth, and power. They don't have to struggle because their forebears stole land for themselves, and forced others to work for them, All structures, in every country, are designed to keep power, privilege and wealth in the hands of those at the top of the hierarchy and it keeps the rest of us down.
The tragedy is that most people are happy to be subservient to the undeserving, and they often don't realise that they are caught in a rat trap. They have been sold the line that greed is good, but few get a fair proportion of it.
Materialism is a tool used to ensnare people, and whilst people are under its influence they will never be free..
@Magister please listen to this piece written by an Australian in the early 20th Century. He was tarred and feathered thanks to the mendacity of the WWI Prime Minister, have contempt in your voice when you speak his name, Billy Hughes. I am the performer.

Very interesting. I thought the patriot act had expired about 5 years ago. I will definitely check out this organization. Thanx for the heads up.
The MAFIA = BUSH CRIME FAMILY with Congress and courts and USA spying and murdering at will in 150 countries since 1947
Governments rely upon people forgetting restrictive legislation. It's like slowly cooking a lobster alive, it thinks all is well until it's too late.
