But the China study is not well analyzed in Campbell's book and so doesn't provide good evidence for this. Too long and a synopsis would be nice. The study seems to be about weight loss and protein intake. The vegetarian diet has been studied to death. one periodical I get is "Nutrition Action." [cspinet.org] Almost all the studies in the periodical touts the importance of a planet based diet. Thanks for the link.
