There were supposedly two attacks on us in the Gulf of Tonkin, the first really did happen, but the second one was bullshit, we just didn't find out until we were already in the middle of it. That was a civil war between North and South. They called it the Domino Effect, if we let Vietnam go communist, Cambodia, Laos, and Thailand would also become communist. Russia had no intension to escalate at all, they were happy making money selling arms to North Vietnam and didn't give a rat's ass what happened as long as they kept it in Vietnam. We should have never escalated beyond the advisers we sent in, in 1959. It cost over 58,000 American lives and in the end wound up be communist anyway. There is no Saigon now, they changed the name of the city to Ho Chi Minh city.

Time to start courting candidates, we need to see who can stay and who has to go.
