Just for the record, the only thing I want is to ban assault weapons; Military style, semi-automatic, that use high velocity rounds, and have a detachable magazine that holds more than 7 rounds. That's all. I don't give a rats ass how many other types of guns you have. As long as you shoot and store your guns responsibly, and observe gun laws, I don't have a problem.

Personally, I'd like to see all guns melted down.

Back in the 60's I worked at a steel mill in Chicago. The police had a , 'turn in your guns campaign', and dumped them into a pot of already melted scrap steel. Then poured the useless metal into a furnace to boil out the impurities.

all guns have one purpose and it only takes one bullet to kill something. As long as you shoot and store any guns responsibly it will be safe. look at the army, for instance, they have many guns and weapons that are generally stored safely. a taser is way better home protection with a guard dog and an alarm. just for the record.

I understand what you are saying, when I started this long before I found this website, I talked about all of it, age limit, license, training. It's too much trying to talk about all of it. So I dropped it down to just banning assault weapons and trying to slow down mass shootings. After that I'll work on the rest of it.

Thats what I say and the idiots in social media are on there saying how liberals want to take all their guns, no we dont, just guns like that and also keep lunatics from having any guns.

I believe it's called fear mongering. They are always talking about protecting themselves and their family, from what, what does the average person need protection from?

@MikeFlora Jehovah Witnesses?

@MikeFlora FRom thugs and muggers etc. BUT most of the time the criminals take their guns and turn them on the original owners. When a homeowner is successful and thwarting a criminal it is usually with a regular gun I have no issue with. You are right it is fear mongering. I believe these people that want these guns are stock piling for an apocalypse scenario they see coming. In fact I think they really want an apocalypse to happen.

@misstuffy They are always talking about protecting their family and themselves. My question is from what? with a few neighborhoods and cities being the exception, the average American doesn't have to protect himself from anything, but that's what I keep hearing over and over again.

@MikeFlora There are dangerous neighborhoods. I have my Dads rentals to take care of and the locals there have made it very plain that because I am white I am not welcome there even though we own three properties there. This is a very racist neighborhood and I do not face that sort of thing by other races outside of that area. I have friends both black and white who are afraid to go in there and in fact we are going to get rid of those homes because we do not feel it is a safe area. We have one home with bullet holes in it. A young man i use to babysit was gunned down on the street deliberately, they killed him, my old neighborhood that was once very safe is now seeing homes shot up in drive by's. One was just three doors down from my childhood home. This is DM Iowa, gangs from Chicago are coming there and setting up shop. it is not safe to be in the lower income neighborhoods, they have broken into all of the rentals and stolen copper pipe and just tore homes up. I am fed up for one. I still do not carry a weapon but I have a friend who is not big on guns actually considering getting a permit to carry because Des Moines is getting so bad.
