Within You There is a Stillness and a Sanctuary Where You Can Retreat at Anytime and be Yourself.

I am not this hair, not this skin, I am the soul which lives within. - Rumi
creative51 comments on Jan 2, 2019:
The concept of soul is interesting. Ask ten people what the soul is and you will likely get ten different answers. Many will have some similarities, but all will have differences. Because a person can create their own definition of this word to meet their own personal perception of what soul is, it would be (if a person so defines it this way) possible to not believe in gods or afterlife, but yet believe in the existence of a soul based on their own definition. Taken to an extreme, any word could mean anything, but in particular words relating to ideas and thoughts do lend themselves to personalized meanings.

No. But I did not have that as a goal. Sure I looked and still look. But that was never a high expectation of mine. I look at this as kind of like a casino. You go to have fun, talk to people, be there, have a good time and like at a casino, you likely won't win big, but you might, so you go and have fun.

I went to undergraduate college at Western Michigan University. They have a very strong behavioral school of psychology. We learned all about the subtle and not so subtle ways of reward and punishment in terms of shaping behavior. One of the lessons we studied was rewarding younger children with M&M's for good behavior. It became an inside joke for all the students. Well 48 years later here I am. Agnostic.com rewards your participation with M&M's only they call them points. And every one is scrambling around for their M&M's. It works!

Canada and Europe are our allies because we wanted them to be our allies, to oppose the USSR. Sure we offer protection, but we also were the final decider when it came to military matters around the world. So we garnered a lot of power from our position. We are rich enough, that if the wealthy paid their fair share we could have Medicare for all and maintain our military position. Our military position in regard to Europe has kept peace there for a longer time period then has happened in ... well who knows, a very long time. That is a benefit to the world.
