Third, the events occurred before the Court’s decision, in Obergefell v. Hodges, that same-sex couples have a right to marry. Thus, Phillips in part based his denial on the fact that, at the time, Colorado did not permit same-sex marriage—that “the potential customers ‘were doing something illegal.’” Fourth, as Justice Kennedy pointed out at oral argument, the record was muddled by anti-religious statements made by state officials who considered the case below."

I think you have something there.

If I'm not mistaken, the issue was over decorating the cake and not making it, there is a difference. It was not a matter of the baker participating in that gay couple's marriage, but rather his personal belief that he should not have to acknowledge their union at all, and decorating the cake would have forced him to go against his beliefs. Personally, I would not even be interested in giving any openly religious person my money/business, so I obviously disagree with the baker's views. Regarding the second part of your comment, not in the least, because a human being still has to make a choice whether or not to use the gun to commit a murder, and not all guns in circulation are responsible for ending the life of a human being(s).

You got it and add to that the sale of gas to be used in a vehicle homicide.
