Couple of works in progress:
"He shall not try you, more than you can bear,
For he is blameless, and the weakness all your own
He shall not break you, though your lack of faith and care
May have you falter, feel you stand alone.
For this is Jesus, omnipotent son of god
So caring, so loving, if you bend fully to his name"
-Yes this is Jesus, whose love spares not the rod
And will bend or break you, if you do not play his game-
Look not for justice while you weep,
or beg for understanding,
For His promises made, His love so deep
Are a matter of corporate branding-
You are straight or gay? torn or under duress?
Shop around for the right holy label
For whilst the Word is writ, It's meaning is split,
And you can find just the right Tower of Babel.
There is a faith that will open its arms
If you need solace or spiritual honey
And you can settle into their fold, relax in their charms
Whilst they fleece you of meaning and money.
Be warned of the cost; it's not just silver you pay,
But truly the surrender of reason:
Call it faith, call it hope, but whatever they say,
It's nothing less than spiritual treason.
And something a little lighter...
God's with ears that hear
Or eyes that see,
With hearts that care
If only that could be.
But wait a while-
I have all of these things
And am able to smile.
At whatever life brings.
