This always breaks my brain, and I'm interested to know whether any of you get the same thing...

Ever since I was a kid and became aware of infinity and the scale of the Universe, attempting to imagine it would go well for a couple of seconds, then I'd get a sensation not unlike falling off a log as my brain hit the whoa-fuck! wall — as if it had just blinked out for a fraction of a second; a sort of startle response... 'noo-ope, don't go there'.

The same thing happens when I think of the 'why is there something rather than nothing?' question and also when I try to get my head around what might have originated the Universe.

There's a brief panic and a pulling back from the brink, and I don't understand why. I can cope perfectly well with not knowing all manner of things, so why do I have some ingrained anxiety about things that are outside of my perception?

What about you? Do you get a spinning head or is it just a 'meh — don't know' for you?

Logically the Universe has to be infinite, and its always been here.

Have you tried thinking about what was before the big bang...what lies outside of the universe..or what is a singularity or event horizon...
