I find the subject if satanism very facinating the levayan satanism in particular because it's not worshipping Satan it's the rejection of the teachings of the bible and worshipping yourself as a god and Satan is just a metaphor for not depriving yourself and doing what you please as long as you don't hurt anyone else. I'm no expert on this but I have some understanding of how it works

I regard it as a cross between a parody religion and a sort of formalized anti-religion. Too crufty for me, I don't need the symbolism, nor do I want to have to explain it to others. It probably works best for people who don't give a fig what anyone thinks, and while that's relatively true of me these days, it's not SO true that I want to make people uncomfortable and freak them out all the time. Even the notion of calling it "Satanism" is leading with confrontation and provocation. I don't want to live my life that way to that degree. I consider myself something of a "new atheist" in that I can be frank with believers about their BS, but ... to style myself as a minion of Satan when that's not really what I am at all, seems kind of self-defeating.

But it's fine for those who thrive on being counterculture for its own sake, and I absolutely love their brilliant performance art when it comes to opposing things like religious displays in public places, release-time religious classes for public school students, etc. They know how to use their role as provocateurs to the fullest, and I have to admire them for that.
