My wife is Catholic and I an atheist. My wife sent Sam to CCD for a couple of years but when she voiced the opinion that she no longer wanted to attend her mother let that be her right and never again made her go to church. It's funny now, because my wife is very proud of her daughter who is an outspoken, independent young woman and all my wife's friends seem to hold our daughter up as an example for their girls to strive for.

My daughter grew up with no undue religious influence. Her mother's family, being Chinese, exposed her to Bhuddism, which she somewhat follows, but is not rabid about. I believe she is so much better off for not having any religion shoved down her throat. She's a very bright and tolerant person.

I think non believers are less judgemental of people in general, but have the advantage of being able to see through the smoke and mirror of religion.
