Is it possible for those over 40 to become "great friends" with new people? Do you have to know someone X years first?

Typically, when meeting someone new, I am polite, interested in learning more, an in most cases entertain the possibilty of friendship. At my age, I tend to let things develop slowly. Friendship is a gift, and can be enjoyed by all ages.

I don't see any impediment to freindship over 40.. I have made genuine friendships even with my neighbours.. You need to be open to friendship and responsive to it when it is offered...

I have definitely done that. In some ways it has been easier.

I've become great friends with a few of the people here and I've never met them in real life.
