Religion is ignorance-based, and people now have the right answers literally in the palm of their hands.

The internet has provided a lot to diminishing religious beliefs. Young people have grown up with the internet, and their ability to access factual information has shown many the fallacies of faith.

If you go and look at the evolution of religions you can see a pattern in the reduction of gods. First you have a god for just about everything, then a new religion comes along where you have a god that controls a group of things. Then after a while it dwindles down to just a single mono-god. So the next logical progression would be to have no gods...

It's a trend of the times... ever since the 1970's young adults have been becoming less inclined to be religious. The churches fill with grey-haired flocks who every year decrease in numbers untill the benches are half-empty.

Where I live the government is considering schemes to keep some village churches as monumental buildings, since in many places the faithful are no longer generating enough money to maintain the buildings.
