Look at all the countries of the world and how they are historically. In most other than the U.S. families have been doing the same thing fo generations. OWned the land, passed it down generation through generation. How is any new person going to fit into this unless they have the money to buy themselves into the country. The U.S. is different, one can arrive here, get a job, save, as they are used to not having much so what they get even if minimum wage is a fortune. They network with others and make of themselves a future that could not be made anywhere else. I took C++ programming many years ago and there were many people from foreign countries there. I learned three things besides C++, get yourself into a study group with people from different countries (the common language is English, be in a group of like people and their home language is the study language), be careful what you ask of them(met a woman from Iraq, asked about the situation there, the conversation quickly changed, there are spies here looking into what they do, or at least at the time there was), any one getting here is the best there country has, they got here and they want to make a better life and they work at it. I was amazed that this woman who barely spoke English was studying and getting A's, nothing else was acceptable, as this meant that she could move from her station which was low, to a much higher level within the society. We are making a huge mistake by not letting these people in and doing what we can to keep them here. We are quickly loosing our edge we need to get it back, we need to move into the future.

Many of them are here because of our screwed up foreign policy in Latin America. We have been stirring the pot there since 1946 with the creation of the school of the America's. Between that and the CIA and DEA working illegally to overthrow freely elected governments or helping to traffic cocaine in one country while going after it in another we have caused a good bit of the turmoil of which these people are now trying to flee.

IMO you could say that about huge parts of the Middle East as well, sadly.....

Exactly correct!
