Christ in a sidecar.
Look, I just want a quiet life. Nothing complicated.
So, I went into the laundrette this evening and met Grace who manages the place.
We chatted for ages.
She was rapt about my anecdotes. Which are really not much to write home about.
And yet. And yet. And yet.
I had her full attention.
I am not - I repeat, I am not - going to ask her out. That would be embarrassing for the both of us.
But I will find a way to register my interest with her.
Wish me luck folks.
I asked. She said she was flattered but she is taken.
Another romantic thought in flames.
But at least I asked. Do not die wondering.
But,you may made her think; She may have a single girlfriend who's looking too, Should we as Humans pair up,or live our lives alone?
Congrats on asking! Bold move, and sorry it didn't work out. Carry on!
@Holli Thank you. <shrugs> At least I tried. Now I know. Better then the freight of wondering.
Good luck! No, you don't have to ask her out now. I'm sure you have a blanket that needs washing tomorrow and a jacket on Friday... THEN ask her out, but to something fun that she likes doing. Pay attention to the little things and you might well get a second date....
Jump in...rejection you can overcome...regret for doing nothing, not so much...
Yes,the chance not taken, signals missed, possibly haunting you for years. If she says no,thank her and go on with life, she may have a case of the jitters too, fear of rejection happen in both sexes.
I slept on it last night. In the clear light of day, I remembered one of my personal mantras - don't die wondering. I'll be going back tomorrow. And I'll just ask, straight up. Thanks for the support.
@Palindromeman It may be the start of something beautiful, understand, she will be as nervous as you, maybe more. If you go to a eating establishment, find a table in the back, sit across from each other and ask to hold her hand across the table, when holding it, gentle squeezes now and then, use your thumb to caress her hand, it shows caring.
@Louise1920 Good advice. I recently posted that I was home alone, eating spaghetti carbonara with fresh black truffles and a glass of pinot noir, listening to Miles Davis and John Coltrane. It felt like the first act of a rom com - you know, the lonely protagonist. Until he meets The Girl. Because it's always about a girl. Maybe I just met Her.
@Palindromeman Yes if never ventured, nothing gained, fate may have thrown you to together, give it a try,the worse she can say is "No"?
@Louise1920 Precisely. Today is the day. I'm 98% sure she has a boyfriend whose name is Brendan and he is a barrista with a hipster hat. But if that 2% is there, who knows...
@Palindromeman Grace may have grown tired of his antics,or is a very controlling Man,Women need emotional and physical support, this Man may be very uncaring, taking Grace for granted.
