I've been invited to church for a debate (conversion attempt), lets see if I can get asked to leave as quickly as I did from a mosque. I love these opportunities haha
You know that as far as they're concerned you're representing all atheists. How you debate and conduct yourself in that discussion is going to shape the view of everyone attending as to what they think of all the rest of us.
Getting asked to leave really shouldn't be the goal, I can get kicked out of a Denny's in 3 minutes flat. I'd be impressed if you could get even one of them them to question even one small thing that they believe.
Good point I will take that onboard however I fail to see any middle ground. We are opposites. I’ve never debated a religious person without offending them because all they ever want is validation through agreement. I’ll have a think on this.
@Nardi That's all I can ask. Thanks!
I would love to do that! How did you get the invite?
It’s a friend of a friend who I’ve lightly engaged in conversation. Guess he thinks he has a shot to get me in to the choir.
@Nardi Good luck!. I met a preacher one tme that I thought might invite me to his church to have a discussion. Instead he pretty much confessed he did not believe to me in confidence and shortly there after retired. I was very happy the he contacted the Clergy project on my recommendation! In fact Jerry DeWitt who was the first to come out from the clergy project is here on Agnostic.com!
Sounds like fun. Maybe you can work Trump's 2 Corinthians into the discussion.
Both of them!? I hope there’s time.
