Good morning all, and welcome to summer. It's another gorgeous morning here in paradise, but not for everyone, everywhere. I chose this Summer Solstice story because we're not far past those ancient times as a race, since we still treat our fellow humans like garbage much of the time.

So, as you celebrate, try to remember the millions who are struggling in murderous heat around the world, just like those in Trump's American concentration camps awaiting who knows what fate.

Immigrants and refugees, legal or not, are human beings who deserve to live, play, and thrive just like the rest of us. I try to remember this fact daily as i sit in my air conditioned Starbucks, drinking a cool cup of iced coffee; if it wasn't for a mere twist of fate, I might be dying of heat prostration right this minute just like many of them.

Sorry if i'm a partypooper, but avoidance doesn't change anything. #Summer #Solstice #refugees #immigrants

People fleeing their homeland has been going on for thousands of years. My understand of Roman history, is that their mistreatment of German tribes fleeing the huns led to the ultimate sack and burning of Rome. Only the best politicians and leaders can manage such a difficult task and do it in a thoughtful , measured humane way.

We don't have such leaders.

A sad truth; probably because our leaders usually reflect the paradigms of those who choose them, and emotional intelligent is often in short supply.

@josephr look at who this country has become... it seems to me ..we have the super rich who do and live as they please. They control 70% of the money and are one tenth of a percent.

There is a skilled class below them that holds their own financially. Maybe 10 to 15% . Doctors , lawyers, business owners , engineers and technology workers

Everyone one else is living hand to mouth. Paycheck to paycheck.

When we had blue collar workers and unions instead of 10 to 15 % it was 50 to 60% made a recent living.

Now we are racing and fighting over the scraps. What a shitty country.

@Bigwavedave Sadly true for the vast stressed-out majority. But it doesn't have to be that way. You can take back your country if you work together and drop the artificial party restrictions which are dividing you. Here in Canada, we are fighting for the same things, since we have the same privileged, entitled classes hording away with impunity. Populism isn't the answer, it is the other extreme, as Trump has proven.
