Holding on to opinions. I see religions as something unfounded. Not backed up by science and delusional . I try to have my opinions backed up by facts. Whenever someone falls back to 'well it is my opinion' it looks like they want to stop the conversation and put their fingers in their ears. I find myself doing that once in a while. The topic might be of no interest, I am not in the mood for a discussion or it is to close to me. Seems human nature. Just curious what philosophy has to say about this.

You might want to read about the ancient Greek philosopher Epicurus and the movement he founded. It became somewhat well known again during the Enlightenment, so it has some pedigree.
