Went to a meetup.com for people somewhere in the process of divorce.. People with kids have it a lot worse... The meetup seems like a good concept..Probably need happier meetups moving forward. Starting over will be interesting..

Been there. It takes a while to feel like you've got it figured out again.

Yeah, some people suggested taking a month for every year we were together after the divorce. Just got my name back on the 12th. I lost a lot of weight, got a new wardrobe, a new hairdresser, and pretty much keep the skincare industry in business. I thought I'd be running around the parking lot saying,"Hey you- get into my car." But I think I need to find myself first before I find someone else.

@UrsiMajor I don't know how long you were together. It was 19 years when we split and I got the kids. Having the kids did make it harder so it may have prolonged regaining my balance. It was 3 years before i felt i was totally on top of it. I was dating at the end of the first year but I didn't have it all together. I have several friends who took that long as well and they didn't have kids. My divorce was a long time ago. You made me laugh with your skin care industry remark. You're doing and saying all the right things so you'll be fine! 🙂

Meet-ups are a good way to meet local people, but it really all depends on the type of group and the activity. I wouldn't give it up, try something else.

Definitely. I joined a bunch. Doesn't look like anyone put a cap on meetups you can join!

When you are in the process of divorce you need to went and that becomes a bit boring and exhausting for the other people around.

Yeah, my next is a child-free meetup... Then there are just general going out meetups. I'm terrible at meeting new people without alcohol since I quit.

@UrsiMajor Sound like you don't have much self confidence there. Just remember most people are just as nervous as you are meeting new people.

That sounds difficult.

Well, compared to what I was hearing, I had the smoothest divorce in history.. People had spouses that kidnapped their kids and went to the Czech Republic... People were spending tens of thousands on legal fees and I was complaining about a few hundred over standard retainer. It was a wake-up call, really. The leader asked us what we wanted to focus on personally and my reply was,"Moving forward." She liked my response a lot.
