I’m finding it impossible to get along with evangelical individuals. The more I talk to evangelical women the more disgusted I become. Living their life based off a myth.

Could not agree more. Now try it when it's your daughter. It literally hurts my heart.

Evangelicals should be avoided at all costs. They should come with a clear and visible warning label.

@icolan l don't think they can count that high.

The way I see it they don't have a problem...you do. Why do you want to get along with people who are mentally inferior? Is a waste of intelligent time.

@irascible Its name is Logic acid.

Christians are mostly worshipping Sol without realizing it, yeh. The Cult of Sol descended from Mithraism, and the RCC brought it into the "church." You might ask them how they imagine that the part of them that is supposed to "die"--the ego--could possibly be admitted into some party in the "afterlife" (Valhalla, etc).

Another one is, the Witch of Endor called up Samuel and he came up from the earth, 'But the king said to her, "Don't be afraid. What do you see?" "I see a spirit form coming up out of the earth," the woman answered.'

i have lots of other Bible tidbits to piss off the religious, if they are still talking to you after those 😀

I'm interested.

@VelociraptorRemy ah man, thought of a good one earlier but i figgered "no one is interested" lol. I'll get back to you then 🙂

oh, one is "why do you need the whole armour of God for a big party in the sky after you die?" but don't say 'big party in the sky' i guess

@VelociraptorRemy fwiw you might like this guy; they will certainly not. Lotta ammo from him imo [abarim-publications.com]

Evangelical movements are pretty rare over here, so I can’t say I have this problem.

I have the same problem. To add to the sad delusion of everlasting life, they are indoctrinating their children to a lifetime of dedicating themselves to a fairy tale. My sister, her children and their children are Southern Baptists in Oklahoma City where there is a church the size of a convention center on every corner. I just returned from a 6-day visit with them and am exhausted from listening to their Christian blather and being unable to dispute what they were saying. They know I’m an atheist and try to keep the Jesus talk to a minimum, but it still drives me crazy.

That is their way of expressing their love and concern for you. They just don't know any better.

I hope I word this correctly. This is my concern. The religion is based on myth. The tragic thing is that people lead their actual lives according to mythology. That is a very real problem.

hmm. imo we have made mythology into myth, when this might not be the best characterization. Mythology was the way that truth was communicated to the next gen before writing; myths are just lies

My neighbourhood is mostly secular with an admixture of catholics and greek orthodox, so I don't meet that many evangelicals any more. However I grew up in an evangelical faith and felt there was almost a culture of competitive stupidity - who can believe the dumbest things in the name of faith!

Impossible to have much of any depth in common with: sure. Impossible to get along with: maybe. If they're not aggressive, gaslighting Southern Bible-Belt types I have had pretty good success finding commonality.

I can relate.

I am surrounded by them here, I just don't engage with them on religion. Some of them are very nice if you just steer clear of certain subjects. I really don’t care that they are not enlightened , its not my business what myths they believe.

I totally agree. Its really sad. Honestly looking back at my past I'm starting to feel bad for myself. Which usually never happens
