Jesus wept! They’re condensing engine exhaust. The exhaust from all internal combustion engines is mostly very hot water vapour. It hits the cool or cold atmosphere and immediately turns to water droplets and forms ‘clouds’. You see the same thing on a much smaller scale from car exhausts on a cold day. Much Woo here.

Completely coincidentally, I happened to be chatting this morning to the colleague I've mentioned on this site before - the one who's an amateur ghost-hunter and brought in her magic EVP recorder and EMF meter a couple of months or so back when completely normal everyday stuff at our place of work was being blamed on a ghost.
"Oh," I said, pointing up, "look at those beautiful contrails!" ...and she started going on about how governments use them to spread mind-control chemicals!
