The thing about agnosticism is, it’s not just about god or religion, it’s an honest, accurate and healthy mindset for problem solving and communing as people to take on the human condition.
"All I know is I know nothing" as someone paraphrased Socrates (who didn't actually say it anyway!)
I see that its in our nature to question things and look for evidence. That scientific type approach that allows for wrong outcomes as much as positive ones.
We're not trying to sell a product, we just want to be accepted as we are. And when you can be honest about who you are, like in this community, its easier to be open to new ideas etc. It destresses us making us healthier physcally as well.
All in all we're free to form the independent thought that makes us human, but also be comforted by a group that accepts us since they may share in the same thoughts.
Yes, I’m glad to have found this community ... interesting however, their description of agnostic, when you choose the best description for your belief, I believe “sees no evidence of God“ could be improved. I see many things that could be construed as evidence for a higher power, I just don’t know for sure. To me, that’s what agnosticism is ... there’s uncertainty, and openness to discovery and learning more truth.
@Inquisitor How about "Sees no convincing evidence"? An athiest knows, an agnostic believes.
Totally agree. The first step to being honest with yourself about your knowledge about virtually anything, is to admit, you really "don't know".
Accept that you may be biased for one reason or another, accept that your belief in one thing or another may very well be wrong, and prepare yourself to be open minded enough to change your opinion about almost anything.
