I know how you feel and I sympathize with you. Mine was removed in 2008 and I have never been the same since.
Yea..you don't realise how important it is until it's damaged or gone..thanks Ken. You miss the feeling of having the ability to feel good like you used to...
@Hitchens Yes in my case it was malignant. So i went through full body radiation followed by 5 years of TSH Suppression therapy. In other words they ran me in max hyperthyroid mode for 5 years. I had terrible insomnia, tinnitus, heart palpitations, muscle spasms, anxiety, brain fog, fatigue, and headaches. After 5 years they backed me down to a normal dose of levo. The problem is i still have some of the side effects. Additionally I'm a professional singer/musician and the two surgeries created problems with my vocal chord and vocal cavity. So I had to learn my new range and falsetto points. It's just a pain in the ass. oh and one last problem. The radiation killed all the good bacteria in my stomach and weakened my immune system. So i was on a special diet for two years. At the end of two years I traveled to brazil for a much needed vacation. I got so sick eating their food because my stomach bacteria and immune system were compromised. My vacation was basically ruined. I did get that first great week in RIO. But after that i was miserable. I lost 15 pounds in three weeks. Don't eat the Moqueca if you have a weak stomach.
Holy cow..Ken.. here I am bitching about a week from Hell.. you have been through the ringer ..and come through the other side.. my compliments on your strength..mental and physical.
What kind of music do you play/sing?
Bluegrass..Folk..rock ..or mixed ?
@Hitchens Thanks... i've been in remission for just over 9 years. According to thyca.org and my oncologist i'm cured. Hopefully I won't hear the C word in the future. I play a mixed variety of music. I released a Cd of various classic rock styled music in 2014. My artist name is Likwid Audio. The CD is called "Pour It In your Ear". It's available on all the digital outlets. Hard copies are available on Amazon, CD Baby and Best Buy. I'm currently in production on a Blues CD that should be released next year. I also have Jazz and Folk CD written and mostly recorded.I plan to release them in 2020 and 2021.
I have hypothyroidism. It is pooey. My muscles ache, tiredness floors me, hair and nails become so brittle and I gain weight like its going out of style! Its not fair. The medication isn't accurate enough to adequately control symptoms. The problem for me is I am naturally a workoholic, manic, over achiever. Being floored by this is literally torture.
I feel yer pain lovey (((hugs)))
You nailed it...especially when your natural gear is work work work...bang it hits you like a freight train..but you have to go on...somehow. ?????
