It would have to be pretty thin but it's a real thing like the world ended and the survivors are still concerned about paying the guy at the gas station for a loaf of bread as if it would still be delivered. Idiots.
Only one way to be sure. Take a piece of non-monetary silver up to the local Piggly Wiggly or Kroger, buy some bottled water and find out. If they take it, head to the canned good section next.
