Has anyone else experienced Ego Death, if so, what was your biggest take away from it.

Two personal takeaways:
"We don't know what we don't know"
"We have two lives, and the second begins when we realize we have only one." -Confucius

Have a great day!

I owe my Ego my Life. I die when my Ego dies. In a certain life and dead situation my Ego told me... "you are smarter than those four put together so no reason to kill all five today". I am still around over 30 years later... I don't think those 4 are alive. My humble take about Ego Death.

Pretty sure my ego was severely crippled as a child or born this way. I've always been detached from my self, which has its pros and cons. It makes almost everything amazing while horrendous at the same time. Wasn't until I had my daughter that I started to feel more grounded, but a big part of me used to operate as if I were just a bubble floating through reality, observing and only interacting to ensure the flow of things keeps flowing.

I can't say that I learned anything profound from it as it wasn't like I was attached to my self, did some drugs that detached me and showed me a revelation, then became reattached after they wore off.

I will say this, when you're not attached, your subconscious reactions are on point. When your consciousness is busy thinking about life and the universe and something happens where your subconscious is what is reacting, it's almost like you have superhuman reflexes. Can't tell you how many times I caught or dodged something in a near impossible fashion.. but if I tried to do the same action consciously, I'll fail miserably. Everyone wanted me to pursue sports due to my reactive reflexes, but I always sucked and faltered because you couldn't not think about what you are doing.

I have.
As an athlete I died when I couldn't play anymore. Time's a bitch.

Pardon, but you are telling us you were not alive before you became an athlete... see? It was not supposed to be that important!

Yes. Achieved through meditation. No I did not have a teacher.
Takeaways: I realised that I don't exist.
The part of you that says "I" is an illusion. It is a figment of your imagination. It doesn't exist. It thinks it does, but it doesn't, not really. It literally cannot imagine not existing, so that is the part of us that fears death.

Was it through yoga meditation? Did you have a teacher?

Started a divorce, then took up yoga to clear mind... boy did it!
Driving down the highway and just felt like I was bathed in light and began crying for no reason. Freaked the hell out of me since I have always been black/white, analytical science type guy.
My perception of everything has changed since then.
Farfromaverage, Corey Wayne, Abraham Hicks and Alan Watts videos on youtube played a huge factor too.

This song was playing when on the highway.

Just heard it on Pandora, had forgotten about it til now.

@HeyHiHullo Thanks so much for sharing this great information!

@WilliamFleming you are welcome.
Have to listen to everything with open mind, no horse blinders on, you don't know what you don't know. You start viewing movies from a whole new perspective, the matrix, Dr. Strange, Star Wars etc.
