They break the compass as early as possible so children end up 'needing a fix'. Drug dealers aren't the only heartless pushers.

Well, we won't go around hurting others as an infant, sure. Development plays a key role for morals. Avoid the indoctrination of religion and all will be fine.

I think we are born thinking the world revolves around us and we need our parents and society in general to wean us off that idea by teaching us morals, which is the same as teaching us that the other people matter.
