Aristotle once said ( Nicomachean Ethics, 1094 a 1) : "Every art and every inquiry, and similarly every action and pursuit, is thought to aim at some good; and for this reason the good has rightly been declared to be that at which all things aim." [csus.edu] Humanity has reached a mature stage of evolution that demands responsibility for the multi-millionaire, even billionaire history of the Earth. As Oskar Maria Graf wrote, "Europe is undoubtedly the cradle of culture. But you can not spend your whole life in the cradle. " The same for all the World.
Terra is a Family that needs peace and protection, and only people have the capacity to understand its realities and to act as the "brain" and "voice" of the rest of Nature. The honest and wise need a position of sufficient power and balance, in order to call to a (urgent) change towards good and normality. Let us be aware that we are a great Family - Humanity, in the breast of the Greatest Families of Nature.
Discouragement is the policy of those who are bad. Let us change that by a familial approach. The wise brothers must convince the fool brothers that these are seriously mistaken and they have to correct as conscious evolved Terrian beings. If they become aware of what the unique phenomenon of Life means, and the role of protector that History (human and natural) requires from them, they will change for the better. No one is born bad, all people have enjoyed, at least partly the family protection. And from the model of the little protective family we have to go to make peace and justice in the great Family of Humanity.
You can not be indifferent when so many need help and you realize you have the power to help them. The goodness and fraternity we all have enjoyed must continue, knowing that Life is unique and limited. All these positive values should be included, like the air, in the World Heritage. Then, unity makes power. We have a duty to ourselves, our World and the future, to be united for the good. "Be the Light or Love will fade away." Crosby & Nash - Out of the Darkness - 1976

"Every art and every inquiry, and similarly every action and pursuit, is thought to aim at some good; and for this reason the good has rightly been declared to be that at which all things aim."

Aristotle's conception of the good (here) is that of instrumentality.

"The function of a knife is to cut. ----- A good knife cuts well."

Instrumentality is related to utility, the greatest utility is the highest good.

I am not convinced that this is a satisfactory definition of the Good. Instrumentality's conception of honesty can cut the innocent effectively but cruelly.

No, I think that Aristotle has in view the ideal and the virtue of the Good and Goodness, in concept and in work. The teleology and the methodology, not the instrumentality. He states in the Nicomachean Ethics that health, knowledge etc. are not sufficient by their own, these need the (concept and method) of the Good in order to be ethical. And the Good has to be inclusively innocent (conformly to the four virtues mentioned in the NE: magnanimity, justice, thoughtfulness and friendship), in the limits of possible. The more aware we are of the historical Life we are sharing on a complex Planet, the more respectful we must become of all the Bio-Family.

@Noemi I think his idea of the Good is not that of an ideal, (contra Plato) he thinks goods are hierarchical with the highest good being intrinsically good.
"Aristotle assumes that if A is desirable for the sake of B, then B is better than A (1094a14–16); therefore, the highest kind of good must be one that is not desirable for the sake of anything else. To show that A deserves to be our ultimate end, one must show that all other goods are best thought of as instruments that promote A in some way or other." Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy

@cava Re-interpretable. The sum of Goods is rather a sum of diverse Goods, in a diverse World. What is good for one, may be wrong for another. Specificity and unity must be harmonized.
