Trigger Warning

Got something horrible to talk about here, but this news story is proof enough for me of the nonexistence of the biblical, interventionist god: [bbc.co.uk]

The apologetic for when a person — particularly a child — dies in terrible circumstances is "God works in mysterious ways"... Maybe it's meant to strengthen the person's family, or to bring them opportunities for growth...? All part of God's plan...

Not a thing like this — wildfires that kill entire families in the most terrifying, excruciating way imaginable. The children clinging to their parents in fear; the parents distraught that they can't protect them; and an agonising death.

There is no fucking "mysterious way" there, only horrific, appalling tragedy that is entirely consistent with no god existing at all.
