What would you do if you met the most perfect person but then found out they're actually Christian?

The ontological "proofs" of god, be it St. Anselm, Descartes, or others, all assume that god is perfect and that perfection is not perfect without existence. Existence is part of this perfection. This is, BTW, the main flaw in their argument. I contend that perfection is its own contradiction. Even Math is not perfect.

Also, perfection, like love, is in the eye of the beholder. Christianity is immoral in its core. I am now writing more about it, but it is not yet ready for the public. Obviously someone who can believe in this mumbo-jumbo is far from perfect. He maybe perfect in his gullibility.

You are enchanted for a while with this "perfect" man and in you lusty state of mind you fail to see his clay feet,

If they are the most perfect person, their Christianity and my atheism wouldn’t matter. otherwise, they couldn’t possibly be the most perfect person. The question suggests they are not truly the most perfect person to begin with.

You're right. I guess what I meant was that they "seemed" perfect until they revealed that they were Christian by quoting scripture.

I don’t think I mind anyone’s beliefs as long as they aren’t forced upon me in any way. I get along quite well with my very catholic mother.

I think if you have to ask that isn't the most perfect person. The most perfect person you would accept their belief system and they should accept yours. There should never be a need for a huge discussion about that.

If that person was perfect, they'd be both tolerant and respectful of other people's beliefs, thoughts and opinions. So, no problem at all.

Not necessarily Christian, but a theist in general would be hard for me.

My marriage technically just ended over that. It all depends on how important it is to you for your daily life. I know a lot of people and Interfaith marriages that are just fine together, but they don't really talk about it much.

I guess I am an active atheist? It is something I spend a lot of time conversing and thinking about. I got my degree in religious studies, so it is a huge part of my life. Some people have no problem with it though.

I for one don't care about what anyone else does though. Most of my friends and family are believers. That doesn't bother me at all, but I think I would like my life partner and I to be on the same page

Everyone has their own things. Some people don't refuse to date smokers. Some people refuse to date people of the opposite political alignment. I really would like someone who just views reality in the same way that I do

I agree with this. Thank you! 🙂

Ive dated christian, muslim and pagan ladies, the important factor is the personality, and now im single again.....

Well maybe religion was a factor in it not working out for you.

Surely it's the person you're interested in, not what they believe, everyone's on their own path, let people be themselves?

Go for it, unless they didn't accept you.. You said they are perfect for you

I've dated a couple of Christian women that were totally fine with overlooking that I'm atheist; I'm fine with overlooking that too as long as it is never a point of contention or arguments.

Okay. I just hope you understand that in the Bible it says that they should not be unequally yoked. So, when they realize this by actually reading the Bible they might either try to convert you or let you go. I'm surprised you didn't experience this.

It wouldn't bother me as long as it wasn't preached to me. I had a Jewish man friend and just found it interesting his views on politics which were different to my views.

Okay. Fair enough. 🙂

The one flaw in a perfect person

Would you continue with them or leave the tortured soul alone?
