Day two . Caught bus from Anchorage to talkeetna. From talkeeta we caught a jet boat through chulitna gorge. Best part was the two guides. A son of a squatted on land in 1974. His folk were from NYC and they built a log cabin. No water no power. The other guide was a woman from Germany. We saw seven bald eagles. Denali wore a cloud. Maybe tomorrow.

I love Talkeetna! I went to a great open market/festival,and had the best time. I drove (rented a car) around as much as I could: Anchorage, Seward, Homer, Talkeetna, Fairbanks, and stayed at one of the oldest roadhouses in the state....I can't recall the name of the town. Wanted to take a boat ride there, but the snow melt had the river so swollen; whole trees were floating in it! Met a few locals and got to see a fish wheel in motion. I have great memories of Alaska, especially walking downtown Anchorage at night and running into an Eskimo native that fought in WWII. Amazing trip.

Love alaska and the people. I thought I would love the landscape. . Amazing people are drawn here. Truly American last frontier.
