If the USA census asks about citizenship, who else is going to mark “non citizen”?
I'll have to. I'm a Brit, permanent resident since 1980.
Just came back from London... first time home in 25 years, & was detained at immigration because my last name had changed. Seriously? Is it that unusual for a woman to marry between the ages of 14 & 52??
I sat there for over an hour before they finally let me go.
why didn't you change your nme in the passport, Green Card and DL?
@DUCHESSA
I did, on the passport & DL. But when I moved here green cards didn't need renewing. I've applied for an updated one, but it takes about a year. It's all on file, & they have access to the digital documents, including my marriage certificate. Guess I must have looked suspicious, lol.
I was born in this country and will mark myself as a citizen. I always believe that once you are a citizen you cannot have it taken away from you (though you could, presumably, give it up). After what has recently happened with citizenships being recinded, I am appalled.
Probably because the person lied to obtain said status....because since 1989 (or so) the American Citizenship -naturalized- can't be taken away. Legal Resident Alien status indeed can be revoked.
@DUCHESSA How do you know the person lied?
Whatever you planing... my 3 retirement checks are Off Limits!!!!
As are mine.
@DUCHESSA We know there is time for rebellion and time to know what time it is.
