I have just seen a headline that says Trump is going to "shut down government" if they don't fund the wall or something like that. What does that mean? Surely one man can't disable the democratic machine?

Essentially, he will refuse to sign a spending bill. With the current divisions in Congress, it will not have anywhere near the votes to override his veto, so all but essential services will be discontinued.

Some people think this is a bad thing.

I think they've figured out how to make Mexico pay for a wall after all. Make America so obnoxious that Mexico wants to wall itself off from US...

He will stop payments to governmental services, I think, but am not sure
