They have actually been doing this since the sky marshal program began!
Which happened to me back in 1974 on a trip from SEATAC to SFO! I will not get into any further information! It was because I asked why my carry on was being searched and others carry ons were not! Because of the legal agreement I am not able to give more details! I have flown since as contract aviation specialist without harassment!
There are programs since DB Cooper IDing and profiling those who fly! Most times and in general it has been a wasteful use of taxpayers funding!
