If this isn't a thing on here yet, we should make it one: Local church marquees. There's one down the street from me that always has something hilariously antagonistic or eye-rollingly out-of-touch. Last week it was "Summer is the best time to enjoy the Son" (watch out for windowless vans). This week it is "Hell hath no fury like a church service scorned" (are you threatening me, sign?)
Pity the guy who has to come up with something "fresh" every week.
My Dad was that guy when I was a teen. I tried not to look at the sign. One time it said, "Seven days without prayer make one weak". I cringed, comforting myself with the knowledge the none of my classmates probably knew that was coming from my Dad. Although I'm sure they recognized it as a Dad Pun. It was somebody's Dad.
True it needs to be a thing. The two most antagonizing ones that I keep seeing are: “Think its hot now? It can get hotter!” (Of course it can, and it is! you keep electing robber barons who actively try to bring on the apocalypse by destroying the earth you morons.) and the worst one that Ive seen at several different churches all around is “We kneel at the cross and stand for the flag” ? of course you do, youre not being summarily executed during traffic stops. I want to burn these discompassionate churches down.
The funniest one I saw lately was “through perseverance, the snail reached the ark” ? Im sure he did. And through a wormhole, the kangaroos went back to australia without leaving a single fossil across asia.
