I am a mere observer of American politics and don't really get a lot of it, but would you say there was a similarity with Trump and Andrew Jackson around 1828. Not from a political angle but being in office due to popularism as, if I recall, Jackson was a response to the Republicanism of the first six presidents. I may be totally wrong here, but this is how I remember something and pondering brought me to a conclusion. I could be talking total nonsense! Anyone help out with this? Thanks

Trump getting elected was in response to eight long horrible years of socialist dictatorship in which most Americans did not want at least four more years of the same. The last president lied about healthcare costs, made apologies to a country that did not deserve one and thus embarrassed the hell out of alot of Americans, cozied up to Iran and funded them even though Iran harbors terrorism, totally violated due process rights of Americans with illegal drone strikes, just to name a few of the rotten things from the previous Admin. @Trajan61

Yes I agree. He did all of that. The Iran deal was particularly very bad. Race relations also deteriorated badly under Obama especially with his advisor Al Sharpton having so much influence.

The populists loved Andrew because he killed many Native Americans and forced them off their land allowing land hungry whites to "steal" the land" . Andrew and his minions skinned Native Americans and made bridles and other items from the skin. A very nasty man applauded by very nasty people, and our alleged POTUS keeps a huge picture of nasty Andrew on his wall. There's more, but I'm blinded by the orange right now.

Just a very horrible mistake.
