My eldest appears to have some thyroid disfunction. 2 blood tests have shown slightly overactive and slightly underactive. He's complaining of joint pain general tiredness with anxiety and I would say slightly depressed. All general teenage symptoms but I took him to the gp and asked them to test him. Glad I did now, we're waiting for an urgent peads referral to discuss further tests. He doesn't like blood tests!

Who does,when my wife was alive,she'd drive me to have the blood test,to get my blood I had to take a Xynax and hydrate(3 bottles of water sometimes).now that i'm alone, it's entirely different,having mentally prepare seems to work,being "Needle Phobic" is not easy.....

I know all the symptoms..hope it's not his thyroid, but it's better to know now. Good luck.

@Josephine Inherited disorders are hard to explain to your Son.

@Mike1947

As far as I am aware Thyroid issues are not inherited..I have Hypothyroidism..but none of my parents or any of their siblings have any history of any thyroid issues. I could be mistaken, but certainly no family history of it...

@Hitchens Iwonder,could it have skipped a generation? Testing was crude at best,then for disorders we can diagnose today.,then

@Josephine I may have mentioned I had kidney stones,caused by elevated blood Calcium levels,After being tested, a small benign Tumor was removed from my Parathyroid gland,So two operations at Govt. expenses(I was in the Air Force a the time),no problems since,this was about 1966.

@Mike1947

You may very well be correct...however my particular case was so acute that I was referred to the top consultant in the country..he told me my case interested him..so he would deal with me personally..no charge.

He suspected that my thyroid issue may have been triggered by drinking copious amounts of only bottled water for 12 years..BPA can cause hormonal damage..he was reviewing research into this..but further study is required as they say..so that is inconclusive..but possibly a contributing factor to the gravity of my case.

@Hitchens I've seen notifications of BPA free bottles in the stores,I understand it mimics hormones,most plastics had/have it.Makes me wonder about all the people exposed to it,infants,young people,older adults,what's the outcome?

@Josephine

It might be..I'm no research professor..just read what they write..

But it's funny when you think about what people..even medical doctors advocated as being save in moderation or small dose exposure..

Mercury..arsenic..lead..asbestos..ciggarettes..etc etc etc

These days we know that it wasn't bullshit at all.

Maybe plastics pollution and BPA are not just killing off sea life...now the research is looking at the long term damage or effects of the build up of plastics in humans....who knows?

@Josephine
Lol Dehydrogen Monoxide = H2o.. ✔
