Religion distorts reality for those who are religious. When your reality is distorted, your views may be as well.

Of all the people who "believe" in a science-based worldview, very few are practicing scientists. And of all the practicing scientists, relatively few spend much time thinking philosophically about the implications of their own worldview. This is, however, not a justification for wholesale rejection of science. So it is with religion. Judging Christianity by its followers is like judging science by Deepak Chopra (an endocrinologist). The ideal is rarely met, but ideals are still useful.

Makes sense. The belief in compassion from god removes the burden of compassion in humanity. Like a moral-hazard.

I have personally always thought on the 5% the chrsitians were right and I ended up in hell it would be better than heaven given the company. Also, it would have good food. Heaven is all going to be northern european bland foods, while hell is going to have the foods of 6 out 7 people on this planet.
