Christian movies:

Has anyone started watching a movie on Netflix, maybe the movie had an interesting picture on the cover, and a decent sounding title, then 30 minutes into it you find that it's one of those mindless Christian movies?
How can you avoid throwing away 30 minutes of your life like this?

I always search movies and TV shows on Rotten Tomatoes before I watch them!

Netflix has quite a few of them. Some are not sold as Christian movies but have very strong Christian overtones. It's like they are trying to sneak their message in a movie that they made just for the purpose. They are sold as regular movies with the motivation of giving us a good dose of Christian theology.

Yeah, that's exactly the kind of movie I'm talking about.

I can avoid them on Netflix, but I'm stuck watching (extensive) previews at the theater such as the last one I saw for "God's Not Dead". I really resent the way they show the sad, miserable, desperate "lost" one who hasn't yet seen the light. It's just insulting.

I really have no problem watching that sort of thing, I only watch movies or tv shows for entertainment anyway

Check out "God awful Movies" they review Christian movies so that you don't have to watch them, they're a funny bunch!

It happened to me while watching "The Lobster". I was told it was good, but it was abysmal. Look plots online and ask friends. I hope they aren't bad as mine

No. It was not. I a bit abstracted from the main question how to choose films I watch.

I must have missed the religious tones, @Hysoka. Perhaps I was side-tracked by the scene with the dog and the total lack of interest in any of the characters ... except maybe to dislike them. I think they thought they were being arty.

That was exactly the scene a I quitted watching it @Lauren

I completely agree with your decision, @Hysoka (and what a nightmare that was).

Those films are so irritating! I agree, at first the film seems warm and maybe even interesting...and then you meet the cold-hearted athiest who is saved by the end of the film. The acting is usually sub-par.
