A wise man who is active in his church said this to me: "The older I get the more I move towards spirituality and away from the church. You know, the two are separate things."

I have never yet had anyone give me a satisfactory explanation of what is meant by spirituality that does not come straight back to privatised religion

Religion can sometimes become just habit, a cultural identity and a social club/connection, whereas spirituality is a deliberate choice to choose a philosophical connection to your surroundings, natural and social, and can be done on your own or in a group, but you "own" your spirituality, where the religion owns your blind faith, and therefore can easily be used as a tool to steer followers to unquestioningly follow directions from people in authority and believe things that don't jive with your intellect, common sense, and social justice.

That's becoming clearer and clearer everytime new charges are filed against those perverted priests ?

Didn't the spirit move them to do what they did?

@FrayedBear yes, the devil's spirit, if you believe that sort of thing

@sellinger I don't. Just good old fashioned human lust, stupidity and selfishness.

@FrayedBear amen... I mean. Awomen haha
