With everything that is going wrong in my life right now, I am relieved I don't have to also carry around that megaton burden of Christian guilt. that shit looks heavy.

I had grown up in such Holiness Movement denominations as in particular the Church of the Nazarene , which teaches the doctrine of entire sanctification.[jcnot4me.com]. This had contributed to my developing a scrupulosity obsession.[ocdla.com]. So it came as a relief when a few months before turning 15 I ended up feeling disaffected , rather than perfected , and became an agnostic . I don't know if anyone whom hasn't experienced this religious background can fully understand , and appreciate what I am saying . I suppose that the best way I can describe it is to compare it to being in a relationship with a demanding , controlling girlfriend , or boyfriend , whom if she feels you are not completely good enough for her she'll get fed up with you . This is based upon how the Nazarenes interpret this verse [biblegateway.com] to try to support their doctrine of conditional security [en.m.wikipedia.org] . I am also convinced that the same verse inspired these two songs , which I find to be both amusing , and perspective giving .

,
I guess one might say that I dumped their God before God could possibly dump me . Not that there even is any such being as God in the first place .

Yes, I think those of us who are free of this idea of original sin, from which Christian guilt springs, are lucky. This is not to say we don’t know right from wrong and feel guilt when we do something wrong. We don’t carry around with us the burden of being told we are sinners who have to atone and repent for the sake of our immortal souls. That would be a heavy load!
