I watched a show about Christopher (interestingly named after Christ) Hitchens (Hitch) last night and even though he was an atheist he still seemed to believe in the myth that US exists for the good of mankind and all (30 or 40) US wars are "just" wars. I can't come to grips with this carte blanche on US hegemony because it goes against my utter abhorrence of WAR; nothing justifies WAR or aggression, and in fact WAR is a construct of the MICC trying to convince us of

I'm, surprised Hitch advocates war. . It is so sad to think of someone having to cope with drones or tanks or rape or imprisonment. So lucky to be living in a peaceful place

The documentary was called "Hitch" and found in "[topdocumentaryfilms.com];, with a bunch of other docs and info that might be considered fake news but in fact is the "TRUTH". They're all terrific docs, all from a different perspective.

Hitch was wrong on Iraq in my view...we made the matters worse by huge factor..but he is correct on war with ISLAM...and all organized ligion. HE was the premier language purveyor of my time. HITCH-22 is a masterwork...if you understand his quotes and references page by page (I DID with few exceptions) YOU have been keeping UP. He was so thoughtful and connected with his time..and able to change his mind when circumstances presented further evidence. I MISS HIM...I cried in Dec '11 when he died. HIS memorial on YOU TUBE is the most amazing tribute I know, even considering state funerals for Presidents...HE was so loved and admired. I wish I had known him personally and had had drinks and conversations with him. Him with scotch, me with Cognac. And so it goes.

Self defense and the defense of the victims of those who abuse power is always a just cause. Human nature is what it is. The ability to use feelings and reason is necessary for decisions involving justice and morality

I couldn't agree more. War is never justified, and always abhorrent.

I think that wars are perceived to be for the betterment of mankind. However, after going to war in Vietnam, and losing so many other Americans, how can anyone say that? I was drafted into the Army (before the lottery!), and went because I thought that it was the "just" thing to do. I served my two years of active service and got out. No regrets about getting out. My only thoughts are for those that weren't fortunate enough. And now we trade with the Communists of Vietnam? How ironic! I refuse to purchase anything made in VN.
