I was under the impression that Buddism , was not so much a religion , as lifestyle choices .

I thought it was mostly about avoiding suffering.

@Renickulous Thought he was the rich man with a family , who decided to give it all up and live in poverty , while abandoning his family .

@Renickulous but it doesn't say obey me to be allowed in the heavens. It doesn't talk about other life. It talks about being good for your own good

@Renickulous Buddhism is actually older than Christianity and Siddharta Guatama was originally a Hindu. He also said, "Do not follow me, I am only a man." Buddhism never started as a religion, but as a philosophy. In the west it's still considered more that.
