I took a tour of a seed farm that grows and tests both gmo and organic crops. I met the scientists who do the research testing on creating hybrids and genetic modifications to make plants withstand various pests, droughts, and other plights, so that crops can be grown with less pesticide application. I saw the machinery that applies small amounts of pesticides mixed with huge amounts of water, and how it's strategically applied for the most impact and least waste with drift, etc.

The person giving me the tour, started to change my mind on some false notions others had been spreading about progressive strategies for agriculture in our own country and third world countries who really need a solution to their failing crop problems.

That got me interested in doing my own research on both sides of the issue, taking a course in the subject and finally standing up in defense of lies when I hear them. I feel more educated in the subject and feel more comfortable in my choices. While I had a fairly open mind about the subject, I had some notions and experiences in my past that kept me from seeing the whole picture. Now I feel I have a more balanced and larger view.

interesting question. I was thinking how much time we waste with our rants because almost never do people change their minds. But for me I would say a couple of years ago when I decided it was immoral to eat meat and have animals suffer when I don't need to eat meat.
