I look across my life, at the roles I've had the honor to , and find myself not longing for the past, or fearful of the future - just content to see what comes along, day to day.
We are all a mix of so many things, so many people, depending on the times we live in, the world around us, and the worlds within us. But so many people pine for time to stop, for the past to be the present and the future, they lose their appreciation for the 'now'. People are so discontented, missing what was, and fearing what will be, they ruin the only thing that is promised, which is the right here, right now, this moment in their lives.
I have friends my age who are grandparents, first-time parents, step-parents, mentors, teachers, and more. I also have friends who are the crazy uncles and aunts, bad influences with good hearts, lost in the fiction in their own minds, lost in the fictions of others, and those who couldn't get lost if they tried. Whatever role you were once in, or hope to one day be in, don't forget to find (or create) joy right now - today.
The past has already been lived, and there is no promise of the future. Make your life now the best it can be.
