I hate politics
I agree the the left and right have both gone too far in their respective directions. I see a lot of strawman arguments though. Being from the south, I'm around a lot of right leaning people. Being non-religious, I am around a lot of left leaning people. I don't know any who want open borders, or a ban on guns, or a nanny state. They do want humane treatment of immigrants, sensible restrictions on guns, and affordable health care.
I really think from talking to people on the left and the right that both sides want these things.
No one wants to abort pregnancies unnecessarily, but sometimes there isn't a better option.
No one wants to take away your guns, if you're a sane law abiding person.
No one wants to have a huge percentage of their pay taken away by the government.
I'm dreaming of a day when we can get back to the point of being able to talk sensibly about these things.

I have a lot of friends who also hate politics and didn't vote. Now we have a government that want's more than anything else to take away our freedoms of choice. Freedoms of a woman to make her own choice, freedoms of immigrants to have at least an honest chance to lawfully come here, freedom to save the environment for future generations, freedoms of people with different sexual preferences. They would even take away rights of choice, whether to believe in god or which god. You may think I'm on a slippery slope but I see it as the country going over a cliff so I have to respectively disagree and see it pretty much one sided as to who have gone too far.

I hate politics, but I do vote and I urge others to do the same. I think people not voting is what got us in the mess we're in now.

I think the right has gone too far, and it has dragged the left into the middle. Today's left is more like Eisenhower era republicans.

If you look at a wider world view of political positioning the USA left and right are actually very similar on the spectrum. It’s all relative.

I hate politics” ...and that’s exactly what the worst among us want..

They, the Industrialist Republican backers, want ‘Americans’ to hate politics. That’s how they win - turn off the average voter (with a constant bombardment of how ‘dirty’ politics and politicians are), then enraging/ energizing their ignorant ‘base.’

Fearing their guns, religion, or unborn babies will be taken from them - they vote! ...as the American middle ..shys away from controversy, turns on ‘the game,’ has another beer or glass of wine, binge watches TV or goes to the movies… If the middle wasn’t asleep, or so well fed they actually cared, they’d vote too.

This year they will.. But look what it’s taken to wake them up!
