It has benefits and drawbacks at various levels and for various groups. I don't think it's useful to put it all under a single umbrella and either accept it all uncritically or reject it all uncritically.

Certainly not good for individuals. Only good for big business.

World-wide trade is very good for everyone. All trade is beneficial. In some cases individuals have to adapt to a new economic climate, but long-term we all benefit.

@powder Greater Australia benefits from cheaper prices. The owners of orange groves are inconvenienced, and their bank accounts take a hit, but they are free to produce other products.

Abundance of goods and services is intimately tied to free trade—the more global the better IMO. Think of the world as a big family.

It's to complex a phenomena to be just one thing or the other. There are ways in which it is both.

I am not sure I understand how globalization can be loaded against the individual. Also are there forces of good? Can globalization be against the individual and still be a force for good?
