It is interesting to see how many "right wing intellectuals" refuse to make reasonable assessment in comparing different government options, such as comunism, socialism, fascism, and capitalism.
Instead they prefer to criticized using propagandists myopic view of our political and historical reality.
True socialism and Democratic principles are not a contradiction if they are based in humanistic values. Divorced from power and wealth for the few.. Humanistic values I repeat must be the real goal for a more egalitarian society.
Why is that so difficult to understand?

‘Right-wing intellectuals’ are not looking to understand, they’re looking to support a system that appears to be working for them.. The last thing they want are outside ideas that could shake the foundation of their power.

They’re the lackey’s of power, the talking heads supporting the status quo… Rewarded with book contracts, academic acclaim, media attention, access to evil, and speaking tours ... confusing the masses in order to prolong their gig appears lucrative.

Why is it so difficult to understand that maybe perhaps some of us don't care about "humanistic" qualities and prefer to be left alone to make a living for themselves? I contend most human beings deep down inside are concerned strictly about their own well being and that of their loved ones, but that is too politically incorrect for most to get a grip on let alone accept and admit such. Not sure which country you're from, but the USA is a Constitutional Republic, and the government was not designed to be a social institution. If you are so inclined (or maybe not in this particular case) to criticize capitalism, fair enough, but please keep in mind that there are plenty of evils in socialism/communism etc. Truth be told, no political system to date has been good enough for all human beings, and I rather doubt all of humanity will ever come to terms on any political ideaology, but only time will tell for sure on that much though.

I am inclined to criticize any political system that undermines equality,
A constitutional republic... The good USA can never be excused or exempted if gross inequality under capitalistic principles is the game of the few..

@Eldovis Equality in rights and equality in wealth are two different things, the latter of which is not a right, and I'm free to criticize any political system that seeks to limit or do away with individual liberties.

@SpikeTalon according to the most elemental social and humanistic principals..
Monetary wealth is based on individual work and productivity, not on exploitation.
