I am a collector of vinyl, both LP & 45’s. Any other collectors out there? If so, what era and genre.

collector is not a term I would use, just bought records since I was 15 in 1966, and just kept them. "Telstar" by the Tornadoes was the first 7inch, I bought, and now have over 300 vinyl albums, which I play on my audio technica AT-PL 120, and Goodmans amp and speakers, which are over 20 years old. (not the deck) Rarest album I think I have is Hendrix depicted as a puppet playing RIGHT handed

@AxeElf hi, not sure of any updates, only problem ive had is with the damper on the hydraulic tone arm lower lever, as its quite old, but theres stuff on youtube about this. would still recommend it overall, sound reproduction quality is great, as is the build quality

I am obsessed with vinyl. I started when I was 8 back in 1973 and bought the Beatles Hard days Night soundtrack. By the late 80s I had acquired close to 1000. In the last 3 to 4 years, I have ridden the vinyl craze and have been enjoying listening to music in this medium again. I am fortunate to live in the Twin Cities where there is an abundance of record stores where $3-$5 can equate a rare gem. have around 1400 lps right now. My tastes are all over the place, but my main passion these days is jazz; dave Brubeck, Coltrane, Mingus, Modern Jazz Quartet, Sun ra, etc.

@Ride_Captain what's amazing is listening to records that were pressed 50 to 60 years ago and how amazing they sound today!

I have to admit to being a lover of LP album covers. The photography and art back then really could make or break an album. This iconic album cover put Herb Alpert into the mainstream and fueled many young boys' imaginations.

I have one of these as well, actually it was my dad's. he had 5 Herb Albert's total.

@mrcharlie65 I'm still a fan of Herb Alpert, but was shocked to find out there's not an ounce of Latino blood in him. For years I thought he was the epitome of Mexican Mariachi music, with a unique jazz twist. He was born to Ukrainian Jews and raised in East LA. LOL!

@LucifersPen all just an act!

I have about 1/3 of my brother’s collection in first pic, mine from over the years in second pic. There definitely been a resergance in recent years in the vinyl market. A nostalgia that tapes, 8 tracks, or CDs will probably never have. It helps that the are not mobile, are user manuipulated, and sound great. Anyway, most of these are their old rock albums, mine get into a little metal and old rock. I have been extremely interested in new music coming out in LP format. Any new acquisitions will probably be metal and punk, new and classic, maybe some rock that sparks interest. New and used, both. Ugh, I really need a turntable...

I have quite eclectic taste. I have everything that led zep ever had printed, and then random one hit wonders like Leapy Lee with Little Arrows. Chuck berrys my ding-a-ling is hung on my wall with my ticket stub from a concert. Loads of Beachboys, Elvis, Buddy Holly, Melanie Safka, the Beatles, Slack Sabbath, whitesnake, Def Leppard and saxon just to name a few. anything that's taken my fancy from the 50's to the 80's i've also bought albums just for the artwork, discovered some good music that way, and some awful though!
