Differences between the Quran and the Bible

I've heard a lot of people come down on the Quran more than the Bible. They say the Quran is even worse. Personally, I can't make it through reading the Christian Bible. Your thoughts?

The "god" of the first five books of the bible is worse than the one of the koran. There are some books of the OT after those that are ok and have some good things in them. But, I can also say there are also bad things in the Psalms, Proverbs and a couple of others. There are also some things in the NT that aren't much better.

The Koran is very, very boring and the rare times it's a bit interesting, it's usually because it's copied from the Bible.

I've read the Bible many times and the Quran once. I think the Bible is a more enjoyable read. But they both can be interpreted, or writings can be selected, to justify wrongdoing.

They are each as silly as the other. Not sure why anyone would want to read either in their entirety.

I don't judge religions by their golden books of fables, but by the actions of their followers. There are followers of both who are kind and charitable as well as those who commit atrocities in the name of their deity.

I don't think either can claim moral superiority.

I think that there might be some bias in the way we have all been introduced to the Quran. Both are fairly old text, which means they both come off to me as "traditional" and don't quite know how to write stories. 🙂

As someone who has at least worked with a largely-muslim community for a few years, I can safely say that the message of "peace through submission to God" is a very common concept for all who practice Islam, and I'd assume that it's a common message through that book. It may be that the Quran is more direct in its messaging, whereas the Bible is known for using a lot of allegory that can be interpreted by each reader however they so choose? Dunno, not a religious scholar.
